Ryan Lee Star
The Broken Heart of Earth
Nicknames: Star
Gender: Male
Apparent Age: 20
What “Era” do they hail from? Tokyo of the Crystal Era Future
Hobbies: Racing (both illegal and Legal); Womanizing; Motorcycles; Cooking (NEW!)
Bad Habits: An egotistical “Better than you” attitude that has landed Ryan in trouble more times than he can count. The flirtatious movement of a curvaceous woman never went unnoticed to Ryan’s eye nor does the go unnoticed to the woman he was devoted to. His stubborn, thickheaded temper always seemed to get the best of Ryan at the worst possible moment.
Personality: Ryan was normally a kind hearted, lovable soul. When with others, he was seen with a big smile on his face and was always in good spirits. His loyalty with his friends makes him a trustable and great companion. By himself, Ryan was rather independent, self-sustaining person. He used focus hard on the tasks before him and saw a task through to the finish. Ryan had a temper, something left over from his days of being on the street but he had a long fuse as long as that part of his past wasn't not mocked. He was also a bit sly, though in a good way. He would flash a smile at the first pretty girl he saw but the moment after he became a loss for words and would embarrass himself by blurting out some random nonsense. However, being a racing champion had made Ryan a bit cocky and he knew that. When talking about his racing career, he used to lift his head high in a cocky manner and have an arrogant aura about him.
That was all before his death came about. The smile faded and the good spirits whisked themselves away. With his heart broken, he has lost his ability to show affection. Empathy and remorse were torn away and the love that made him whole, that once brightened his world...is nothing but a hole now. But this does not devoid Ryan of his sense of duty. Now with his heart gone; his head became clear, realizing that he allowed his judgment and thought process to become clouded by feelings of love and happiness. He is possibly one of the very few Knights who remembered who and what he was, Ryan maintains his loyalty, attitude of stalwart duty and vows to focus more on leading and protecting his fellow Senshi and Knights. Even if it meant commanding or going against his own Senshi partner. His arrogance remains but in a new found form naive leadership. He has a cold aura about him, often not answering to someone speaking to him or a chilly/monotone tone in his voice. His temper never changed but the long fuse has become short and prone for sudden outbursts that happen more frequently than Ryan would like to admit.
Appearance: Ryan stands at a tall 6 feet and weighs 170 pounds. He is physically fit, lean and thin for his height and weight but is not toned or ripped with muscles. His skin is now pale white and icy cold to the touch. He did keep himself in shape by daily jogging and weightlifting, but in death that rarely mattes anymore. He has medium length, spiky, jet black hair but his deep sapphire blue eyes are now a dull, lifeless icy blue. His face is oval in shape with a flat chin. On his face he has two scars, both at the left eye: one going down from the top of his eyebrow down to his cheek bone. The other crosses the first scar traveling diagonally from the uni-brow to the left cheek. Ryan received these scars from his first motorcycle accident as the visor of his helmet shattered, the broken plastic cutting his face. Neither scar affects his vision in any way.
On the top of Ryan's left wrist is a birthmark in the shape of a star while on his back, about around the right shoulder he bears a feint mark- (whoops! hidden by our ST!!). Most of the time Ryan enjoys to wear his motorcycle outfit the best, since he rides so much, but he will wear other clothing as well. In his dresser one can find t-shirts and polo’s and blue jeans or khaki slacks for pants. He wears shorts for hot weather and long wool clothing during the winter. Ryan only wears lace-less sneakers for shoes.
Family and Close Ties:
William T. Light: His adoptive father and President of Light Industries. William was the reason Ryan picked motorcycle racing and was introduced to both the Song Family and the Princess. Ryan is uncertain if his father knows of his death or still exists but the thought gives him one more reason to fight.
Pauline Light His sister, ever snoopy and intrusive at every moment. She invaded some of Ryan’s most secretive spaces to make sure her “little” brother was staying out of trouble. Despite her bad traits, Ryan hopes she is well and safe alongside their father.
Kasumi Song She was his best friend, his truest friend, a partner in crime. She built the bike that he raced the streets illegally. It was Kasumi who cheered the hardest when Ryan was on the track, it was her that supported him the most... only to be betrayed by him in the end. He chose her “Hime Sister” over herself and no matter what she would do to try to win him back, Kasumi could never have Ryan. A dagger wedged deep in her back by betrayal and now losing him to death. It must pain her more now knowing that he is gone forever.
Elizabeth Majer: “He was in love, that much was true. Her looks, her voice, her touch. She changed his world, opened his mind to it actually. He influenced her too. Changing how she saw herself in the light of others, caring more about each other than the whole picture, even if it was only for a moment. Oh, how she made him felt! This woman was his entire world, every waking moment, every step, every thought included her at some point. She was his world!
Then the battle came. Beneath the clock tower and on the seat of his mechanized bike, he fought. A friend at his back and another above him; shielding the pair from the incoming lights of canon fire. The ground shook with each of the tower’s step but fortunately, the ally at his back was hoisted away to the one above as the Youma rose to stop them. His blade swung, crushing where one Youma stood, only to allow two more to rise. It mattered little how many stood before him...this Knight would not give up until his last breath was drawn.
He swung his blade one moment, and the next...he felt death's icy grip take hold. His chest...his chest! Pierced with a cowardly attack from behind; the executioner's face never to be known. It was over, without even much as a blink of the eye. As he sunk to his knees, the vision of the woman he cared for so deeply; shattered away from his eyesight. His heart....his actual physical heart was the target, completely obliterated by the final blow and only to leave him lifeless on the ground. The Senshi...nay, the woman he gave his life for, was gone. And only the hole where his heart once sat...was all that remained.” Ode of the Knight of Venus Shattering
Mashimoro Song The General of the military was more of a family friend than anything. Despite his constant urging to get Ryan to enlist and he distrust of the relationship between Ryan and Liz, he knew Ryan was a good person and a trustworthy person at that.
History:
Ryan's childhood was one he didn't like remembering. As a newborn, he was abandoned by his birth parents on the streets of Crystal Angeles. He was found and taken in by the local homeless people who lived on the outskirts of the city and took him in. With no real set family, the homeless citizens were more of a community family than a real family. They raised Ryan and taught him how to fend for himself, how to survive in such a harsh word. Until he was nearly ten years old, Ryan had to lie, cheat and steal from the citizens who lived within the boundaries of the crystal city of Crystal Angeles. He never truly worried about being caught by authorities or the victims he stole from, as he would rely on his tiny frame to escape through small holes, vents or tunnels.
Unfortunately for Ryan, as he got a little older, he also grew as well and it wasn't long before his body was too large to fit through the tiny holes he had relied on for so long. Barely at the age of ten, Ryan was captured, arrested and sent to a juvenile correction facility for six months. Those six months were the longest strain of time Ryan had ever endured. Every day he was picked on by the older kids and would end up in fights that he never started. Towards the end of his sentence, Ryan learned to fight back against his aggressors, becoming overly aggressive himself. When the guards would break up the fights, they would place Ryan in solitary confinement for long hours. During this period, his true feelings would surface and his heart ached for companionship of friends and the love of a family.
When his sentence ended, Ryan was released from the detention center and was taken by Social Services to an orphanage. His time at the orphanage was short, only a couple months long before he was adopted by a single parent family. He was a man in his thirties along with his twelve year old daughter, were the adoptive family that was taking Ryan. The man's name was William Light.
The Light's didn't care about Ryan's troubles on the streets and felt certain that they could control his wild behavior. It was difficult for Ryan to adapt to his new family as he was used to be able to fend for himself. He would constantly lash out against his father and get into fights in school as his behavior was out of control. But with hard work and strict discipline, Ryan's behavior eventually mellowed and he as slowly grew up, he was shaped into a well-bred young man.
When Ryan turned fourteen, William's brother, Robert Light; died in a terrible lab accident. Soon after his death, William became head CEO of Light Industries, a worldwide corporation which designs and manufactures operating systems for military and civilian use around the world. Given this turn of events, William decided to move his family to Crystal Tokyo where the Corporate Headquarters was located. Being the center of technology, Light Industries was one of many Corporations responsible of the technological boom in Crystal Tokyo.
This boom however, came with strings attached. With the military so intertwined with the local government, William decided to create a contract between the Military and his business. He changed the company's production to designing and creating new types of vehicles and weapons for the military to use, as well as, unmanned sentry and surveillance aircraft to be used on and off the battlefield. This was when the Light family, and Ryan, became intertwined with the Song family. The Lord Reagent, General Mashimoro Song, was so impressed by William's designs that a lifelong contract was drafted up, ensuring productive business and job security between the two entities. The General presented William with a gift symbolizing the friendship between not only the Military and Light Industries, but the Song and Light families. The gift was a new type sword created for military use: Tsurugi, the Fusion Blade.
This of course didn't go over with Ryan very well. He felt his father's designs and hard work should not be placed into creating war machines. Upon meeting General Song, the General asked if Ryan would be enlisting in the Military after he graduated High School and the General suggested it would further solidify the joint efforts of the two families. Ryan refused the suggestion. He stated he enjoyed his life exactly as it was and would not subject himself to the military's degrading lifestyle. William, while somewhat regretting Ryan's choice of words, back his decision. He felt Ryan should live his life how he chose and would not pressure him into anything against his will. Ryan's action did not go over well with the General but it did not affect the friendship between the two families. However, it did go over well with the General's daughter, Kasumi. The two quickly introduced each other and became fast friends, as they shared a similar dislike of the military or militaristic lifestyle. The two spent their time hanging out with each other at either school or at each other’s homes, much to their dislike. When Ryan became of driving age, he chose to ride a motorcycle instead to drive a car. He currently had two: one for everyday use, and one he 'tricked out' to illegally street race with. When Kasumi found out that Ryan could drive, he began sneaking her in and out of the Palace; and eventually got good at sneaking around the security checkpoints and guard patrols; so Kasumi could get time away from the caged life style her father had forced upon her. He has been doing this for the past two years.
When Ryan was sixteen, William placed Ryan on the Corporate Motorcycle racing team. Ryan took an instant liking to the life of a racer and focused much of his attention towards it. Throughout high school, Ryan became one of the more popular kids because of his reputation as a racer and would only invite Kasumi to come cheer him on at his races. What Ryan never came to realize until much later was that this special treatment towards Kasumi allowed her to develop a schoolyard crush for Ryan and began to see him more than just her best friend. However, during one of his races Ryan lost control of his bike and crashed. His helmet hit the pavement with such tremendous force that the helmet cracked on the top and the visor shattered, cutting his face. Ryan was only hospitalized for a few days after that crash with Kasumi bringing him his school work and staying at his side each day spent. The two seemed inseparable, at least until Ryan laid his eyes upon the Princess of the Kingdom, Elizabeta Tomoyo.
At the age of eighteen Ryan became infatuated with Princess Elizabeta. He came to learn how rigid and structured her life was, a life best described as “Caged”. While being royalty required a certain set of requirements to be met, i.e. manners, knowledge, etiquette; in Ryan’s eyes, Elizabeta was a teenager asking to be freed. Which was exactly what Ryan did. He quickly began to spend some of his free time befriending the Princess and once the friendship was earned, Ryan increased time with the Princess while decreasing time with Kasumi. Ryan was aware of the Princess being “semi- adopted” into the Song family, which only increased the allure even more. A relationship soon blossomed, forcing the two to hide themselves constantly from the public eye and causing Kasumi to become completely isolated, not only from her “Hime-Sister” but from Ryan as well. He had crushed her heart without even realizing it.
The year only became more complicated for the couple when both learned they were destined to become Sailor Senshi and Guardian Knight of Venus. The complication only grew into catastrophe as a large scale attack from Agents of Chaos was unleashed and the pair went their separate ways for battle. Ryan was the first on the field as he battled beneath an animated clock tower but when the fight went from hopeless to hopeful, an unknown assassins strike ended Ryan’s life and the blow shattered his HEART CRYSTAL.
But CHAOS (JOY!) is a cruel mistress. Instead of allowing Ryan peace in death, he was thrown into the cauldron to battle for the fate of the Universe. Devoid of his Venusian powers, Fate chose that with the seat of Earth empty, it would fall to Venus to fill the role. His powers were stripped away and replaced with the Dream power of Elysium. Now he rises again: Devoid of his heart, Devoid of happiness, Devoid of positive emotions. All he knows now is his duty to fight and protect the universe from the taint of Chaos any way possible.
