Game Rules
- Roleplaying is a Cooperative Sport. You are expected to play nicely with the other members of this game. If you can't be polite to your fellow gamers for the sake of being polite you will be smacked with a frying pan. A second violation you will be asked to leave the game. (Note: Bullying of any kind OOC, The Ancient Art of Trolling and Threatening on any part of this board, c-box or with the ST listening will get you in trouble.)
- Roleplaying is meant to be Shared. You are expected to game and play in threads that may get crowded, or slow, or fast or with people not being friendly. Your character has to deal with the negative as much as you do. You are expected to play with everyone in the forum as mature, wonderful adults (or at least, wonderful children who understand the adults? We're watching. O.O Both Eyes.) Likewise, respecting that you need to wait to post with the people who can't live on this board is appreciated (and... expected!)
- Roleplaying is easier to do when you can Understand the Words Coming Out of Their Mouths. Spell check every post. Pull out dialogue in some way so it doesn't get lost. Make sure if your characters thinking something and it's not said out loud you take into account that being a tart in your head is still being a tart to the people reading your post. (That ties in with Rule 1.)
- Roleplaying is more fun when the Storyteller isn't spitting nails. Do you like gaming with someone adding plot to you so you don't have to think up something? Who's paying attention and trying to help your character grow and change as the game progresses? It's a lot easier for the storyteller to do wonderful things if she's not breaking up fights, arguing over rules and in general, making people act like good human beans.
- Roleplaying is a Choice. You choose to create a character and spend time making it and reading these rules. You chose to join our game and join in the fun and follow the rules... so why don't you also chose to Post and make it a point to actively check the board? A typical RPG tabletop game takes place over the course of four hours once a week or once every two weeks (for an active game.) Sometimes posts take a while, sure, and sometimes you have to 'stretch' yourself to find some place to post... But "My muse curled up and died in a corner" and "I just don't have time" are not going to make it past activity checks. The Storyteller and other active players keeping the game alive will put in 4 hours. The very least you can do is try to post every 2-3 days and keep your threads active.
- Roleplaying is not a Whining Zone. This is not the unloading of your issues, your shit and your whining. Life is tough for all of us these days and we're coming here to relax not get told your day sucked and we need to brush the sand off your boots. It's okay to unpack a little and hang out with friends, we like you too, but we are not here to be told how you need to be a special unique butterfly because your life sucks and this is YOUR place to relax. (Go get a book and watch some tv. Interacting with people is NEVER as relaxing as it should be!)
- Roleplaying is not a Killing Zone. Yes, for the first four months we have "no death" but that won't always be the case. And we will have monsters to kill, people to purify and the ever loving dodging of death and destruction. But the fact is? This is not your kill zone. It's not the zone of making people cry because you like breaking people and it's really not okay if it's treated as such. If you really need to get out some anger, come over to my house, grab a controller and we'll go kill some zombies in Left 4 Dead. Trust me. The zombies explode better and won't get you frying panned and thrown out of my game. (I have it on steam too... Yeah. Streaming. It's the future.)
- Roleplaying is Fun. If you are not having it in this game we're not a good fit for you- that's okay. Everyone has different tastes, Some people like magical girl, some people like Hentai. The two may mix, but it never ends well.
- You are Not God. You can min max the hell out of BESM and cackle as you run circles around those who didn't want to, or couldn't, min-max the hell out of their character. But get this? Being God is a lonely business. No one will want to play with you and ultimately we are all really here to have fun. So instead of trying to figure out how you can get your character as close to 12-12-12 without breaking the system keep in mind... A 5 is above average then a normal human. A 9 is "best in the line" realistically how many "best in the land" people should there be? Even if we're all super heroes.... If we're all super, then no one is. Think instead about what fits your character. I know, eyes are probably bleeding on this rule, but your character is going to get hurt, it's going to be sad, confused, and yes, even purified (or corrupted). It will also have good days. Your job isn't to armor that shit up until nothing can hurt it, that kind of ruins the point of playing and why many games have reasons why "12-12-12" means your character is retired!) If that's true don't you think I'm going to be eyeballing 12-10-10 too? If not, You need to reread this paragraph lol.
- Keep it PG-13. That's the Proboards rule... Seriously though folks, we may have kids playing on this site and I don't want to be the one who has to explain to someone's parents why Shit Got Real.
