General Questions about the WORLD of 4012!
Technology
1990s-early 2000’s tech. Cell phones, watch phones, videophones, holograms, cars and trains, even a few planes, are typical in this setting. However guns, and many types of modern warfare are rare and difficult to maintain. Military institutions, such as they are, are just beginning to become a real thing and the leadership and structure is varied and depends on the culture of the city.
Magic?
While there are no guns, simple magic is not unusual to be seen. This is low level magic of various kinds, from elemental to spiritual, mostly revolving around the world in general such as seeing spirits or youma, being able to command and channel elements in small things (you could light candles, but not burn down houses without chemical assistance), do small energy bursts (ki blasts), etc. More eastern than western in application and design. There is telekinesis, of sorts- but there is no telepathy. There is empathy, to small levels but nothing character crippling. Complicated Magic, such as raising the dead, granting wishes, and other such things, are not available at this time- this includes creation magic and death/destruction magic.
Crystal Families / Nobility
Are considered "Royalty" or cousins there in. Each Family is considered rich, and royal, and old fashioned valued to the hilt. (Family first, individuals last) the less you are associated with the main house, the MORE Independence, and less wealth you have and the more you are connected to the main house the MORE money you have and the LESS independent you are. Crystal Families are special families, they are not the mafia, but they are ELITE families who EXPECT their families to be LOYAL. They are also very popular and looked up by most of societies as "what they want to be." Girls wish for Crystal family boys to marry them to bring them into the family, and likewise boys wish to seduce girls to get them to marry them and bring them up into the family.
There are 7 crystal families total, each representing a different crystal city where their family is most populated. There are a few "branches" or places where a second brother or sister went away from the family to another city, but they are still considered part of the crystal family. You can read more about the Crystal Families in their introduction Here.
A Revolution?
The Revolution is known all over the world as the splinter group of discontents. The Revolution is run by a mysterious man named "Omega" who's symbol is a red bandanna and a Buddhist staff. He, and the Miko, a green haired woman rumored to only be in her teens, fight to bring the voice back to the people. Not to be held in the hands of some king or queen of a blood line long past, or to be held in Trust for returning generations like the traditionalist cities, the Revolution calls for Democracy. A voice for the people, and not those who only have magic and the ability to wield it. Their gifts shouldn't allow them to be come the elite.
The REVOLUTION in Crystal Angeles is lead by the One-Eyed Fox. They hold rallies and raid military supply depots, giving the loot to the people of the poorer districts. Many of the elite suspect that the One-Eyed Fox is responsible for some of the other "mysterious" looting and raids... But with the Youma always nipping at the heels it's hard to stop and whack at the lesser threat of the Revolution.
Still those who are caught holding Revolution materials, or harboring their members are promptly put to work doing community time- and for those who are second offenders, or those who are decided to be to dangerous are sent to area's of community service that are more risky, such as the Mines or the Waterworks.
Players can not begin as apart of the Revolution, however, it can be taken as a bonus at levels that end in 5 or 0.
What Does my character know about the Senshi and Knights?
Sailor Moon by and large was forgotten by the populace during the reign of Neo-Queen Serenity. So too was Tuxedo Mask... They were simply not brought up. The other Sailor Senshi and the Shinntenou were considered other royalty and often were not around. For the most part, after the first hundred years, the Royals all vanished into their respective castles. And while rumors of a kingdom up on the moon were there, and visible to various exploring satellites- there are no signs of life.
Crystal Tokyo was the first crystal city and it's second name is "Elysion." It is considered the Golden City and once a year, until about 100 years ago when the magic started fading, it would be open once a year on June 30. There are no pictures, or videos of anything more then blurred images of any royals, or the even more rare, sailor senshi. Most has passed on as myth before the ice.
